Daubigny - Large Drawing - Red Chalk - River Bank
Large red chalk drawing by Charles-François DAUBIGNY depicting a herd of cows heading towards a river, a rabbit running away at the bottom right of the composition.
Very beautiful work, richly animated, by one of the masters of the Barbizon school, monogrammed and bearing the stamp of the artist's post-mortem sale of 6-11 May 1878.
This drawing would correspond to number 468 of this sale, a red chalk titled "cows going to drink" (in french "vaches allant boire", see last photos).
