The octagonal base, finely openwork, as well as the reservoir, are made of copper and paktong, an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc, also known as "white copper", or "nickel silver" in Europe, with silver highlights...
A brass "chimney" tube was part of the object, it seems to have been added later, but I don't know for what purpose...
The crystal bell comes from an old large drinking glass, mutilated from its foot, hence the small chips which surround the central hole; this reuse was customary at the time for this type of object.
Very good general and used condition, note some lacks in an upper opening of the base (see photos), and a later "fixing" of the reservoir by screw, perhaps to compensate for a defective weld (?).
