" Coconut Box"
Rare oval-shaped box entirely carved from a coconut, finely decorated with numerous, sometimes improbable, characters, very expressive animals, plants, flowers, initials finished in fleur-de-lis. It opens with a lid in the shape of a beast's head or a man's? Hairy and well-groomed with a bishop's tiara? It rests on a circular base which is dated 1853. A charming object, all natural, in a superb patina in excellent condition. A very beautiful object which will delight the best collectors of folk art!
