Oil on canvas depicting elegant women on a beach by François Xavier PRINET. This painter is featured in the BENEZIT as well as in other reference works on painting. He was born on December 31, 1861 in Vitry-le-François and died on February 1, 1946 in Bourbonne. He was a student of Léon Gerôme and Dagnan-Bouveret. He founded the Salon des Tuileries in Paris with Albert Besnard, Aman-Jean, and Bourdelle. He directed a women's workshop at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts. He was an officer of the Legion of Honor. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1885 and then at the Salon des Tuileries. In 1986, a retrospective exhibition was presented at the Bourdelle Museum. François Xavier PRINET had been responsible for the decoration of the Museum of Modern Art. These paintings are exhibited in several museums: Bordeaux, Helsinki, Musée d'Orsay, Musée du Luxembourg etc...
