Achille Formis Befani traveled to Egypt between 1870 and 1871. The painter exhibited paintings with oriental subjects at national exhibitions between 1870 and 1875. A painting titled The Passing Caravan by Befani was in the collection of Massachusetts Governor Oliver Ames and was exhibited in New York in 1919 at the American Art Association.
