Rare and Remarkable Relief Globe, Designed by Geographers Thury & Belnet, Laureates of the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1855 (2nd Class Medal) and the Dijon Exhibition of 1858 (1st Class Medal). This Globe Illustrates the State of Geographical Knowledge in the Mid-19th Century, Patented as a True Scientific Innovation, It Offers a Three-Dimensional Representation of the Terrestrial Relief. The Mountain Ranges Appear in Volume. The Papier-Mâché Sphere, in Original Colors, is Inscribed in a Graduated Metal Meridian Mount. It Rests on a Turned Marble Pedestal. Marked in the cartouche on the sphere THURY & BELNET. Collector's item, combining the history of science, cartography and the decorative taste of the Second Empire, of fine quality of execution.
