"Gilt Bronze And Crystal Cup From The Restoration Period - First Half Of The 19th Century"
Elegant cut crystal bowl mounted on a rich chiseled gilt bronze mount, made during the Restoration, in keeping with the taste of the Empire. The crystal, finely cut with geometric cross-hatching and friezes, captures and reflects the light with refinement, while the mount bears witness to the work of a goldsmith: an openwork belt adorned with small columns, a decoration of garlands held by knots, and four tapered feet finished with lion claws, giving majesty and elegance to the whole. A typical ornamental piece of aristocratic and bourgeois interiors of the early 19th century, this bowl perfectly illustrates the transition between imperial solemnity and the decorative refinement of the Restoration. It is still a sought-after collector's item today, as decorative as it is authentic. Condition: Gilding in very good condition, bright and uniform. Crystal in good general condition, without cracks or chips, with some slight traces of wear related to age, without detracting from the beauty of the whole.
