Thomas Cartier is a French sculptor, born in Marseille on February 21, 1879, died in 1943.
A student of Georges Gardet, he exhibited animals at the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon d'Automne, and the Salon des Arts Décoratifs from 1904 and 1907; gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1922 for a sculpture of a wolf called "The Alert". In 1927 gold medal at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs; In 1931, he participated in the Colonial Exhibition.
He is considered a major artist from the beginning of the 20th century in his specialty: animal sculpture.
He works with materials such as bronze, but also plaster, sandstone and terracotta.
