A student of David d'Angers, Jacques Antoine Théodore Coinchon was a French sculptor, born in Moulins on September 10, 1814 and died in Paris on February 8, 1883. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon between 1844 and 1881. His work is representative of the sculpture of his time, with extremely precise and refined modeling, and the narrative composition bringing a touch of romanticism that humanizes the material and brings the work to life.
