"Sardines, Signed Maly 1974, Oil On Canvas, 162x130cm, Unframed"
Michel Maly (1936-2018) was a French painter from Blois, living in the Drôme region, whose generous work was inspired by travel (Venice, Tuscany, New York) and the lively atmosphere of French cafés. Winner of the Prix Fénéon in 1968, he favored simplified forms and contrasting colors to convey Mediterranean light and the emotion of everyday life. His paintings, often figurative, combine virtuosity and sensitivity to make visible the soul of places, characters, and moments of life.
