Beautiful Art Deco style cutlery set, Cirta model, designed by Luc Lanel for Christofle in 1937, produced by Christofle for its Alfénide brand.
50 pieces in silver plated metal for 12 people including:
- 12 table knives, 25 cm,
- 12 table spoons, 20.5 cm,
- 12 table forks, 20.5 cm,
- 12 tea/coffee/dessert spoons, 14 cm,
- 1 serving/stewing spoon, 24.5 cm,
- 1 ladle, 32 cm.
Excellent condition, few visible scratches from use and very beautiful shine.
Alfénide hallmark in full. Hallmark "OC" with horse head for "Orfèvrerie Christofle".
Hallmark of grammage 84, good quality of silvering.
Alfénide is a brand of silversmithing created in the 19th century by a certain Charles Halphen and bought by Christofle at the beginning of the 20th century.
Christofle used the Alfénide brand to produce some of their models duplicating others in their range. Thus the two hallmarks coexist for this model.
These are exactly the same cutlery, exactly the same design, produced in the same workshops, only the hallmark changes, "Alfénide" for the pieces from the 50s and Christofle for the more recent pieces.
Case in very good condition.
