Sèvres porcelain jardinière – Signed Wiese, Paris 1860This sumptuous oval-shaped jardinière features a rich polychrome decoration in medallions depicting scenes of children playing, after Philippeau. On an elegant royal blue background, fine golden sprays and foliage highlight the remarkable execution. The frames are enhanced with garnet cabochons, while the gilt and silvered bronze mount displays a spectacular decoration: reclining cheetahs, intertwined snakes, female masks, floral garlands and finely chiseled foliage. Signed Wiese, Paris (square hallmark and monogram “JW”) and green Sèvres stamp dated 1860. Dimensions: Width: 38.5 cm. Height: 24.5 cm. Provenance: Sotheby's Monaco, sale of June 23, 1987, lot n°1888. A very rare piece, combining the finesse of Sèvres porcelain and the excellence of the Wiese house, renowned for its luxurious frames in the 19th century.
