Superb fragment of Maffrash Shahsaven from Persia. The Maffrash are the largest carrying bags used by the formerly nomadic populations of Persia and the Caucasus. Made up of 4 panels on a background of horizontal bands. This fragment corresponds to one of the small panels of the object. Wool on wool. Sumak technique which is similar to that of embroidery thanks to the use of a second weft thread which creates the patterns. Work of great refinement and beautiful finesse. Vegetable dyes in perfect harmony. The object is attractive and very decorative. It is all the know-how of the weavers brought together in this exceptional object...
