Timothy Greenfield-sanders - Keith Haring - Silver Print - New York - 1985
Literature: Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Art World, published in 1999 by Fotofolio.
The photographer met Keith Haring in the mid-1980s within the context of the East Village art scene in New York. In May 1985, he invited Haring to sit for a portrait in his studio as part of the photographic project The New Irascibles, dedicated to artists of the East Village. The session was intended to bring together Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Kenny Scharf. As Basquiat did not appear that day, only photographs of Haring, either alone or with Kenny Scharf, were taken, using an 11 × 14 large-format view camera as well as a medium-format camera. These images form part of a documentary approach to this artistic scene.
