impressionistic touches. Art Deco - Art Nouveau.
The antique
painting is unsigned, but is attributed to Maurice Ehlinger (1896–1981), French painter,
who began drawing thanks to the advice of decorator Camille Braun and, in 1911, received a scholarship to
study at the
École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, under the guidance of master Jules Larcher.
After the end of the war, he moved to Paris (1921) and studied at the
École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts
with François Flameng, followed by Lucien Simon. In 1921, together with Flameng,
he decorated the staircase of the Sorbonne.
He exhibited at the
Salon des Artistes Français from 1922 to 1981, receiving a bronze medal (1926) and a silver medal (1928).
The antique painting is presented in an
original, contemporary golden frame.
The frame and oil painting have been
carefully and professionally restored.
