Léonie Lebas was a French painter active in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Specialist in genre scenes, particularly of Parisian high society life (walks, markets). She was a member of the Société des Artistes Français from 1884 and exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français.
Inscribed on the back "Blanche Lecomte" this must be the elegant woman in the red bustle dress, the subject of the painting.
