An important cabinet by a 17th-century Italian master cabinetmaker, crafted from black ebony and ebonized wood and richly decorated with gilded bronzes, chiseled and perforated. The Italian cabinet, a descendant of the Dutch cabinets and 16th-century Spanish bargueño cabinets, became an important and distinctive element in the furnishings of prominent families. This cabinet consists of a body with drawers and secret compartments and a movable architectural panel with additional drawers inside. The base features four twisted legs.
