Rare Empire style letter holder with neoclassical trophy decoration in patinated bronze and yellow Siena marble. This refined desk accessory has the same function as a "toast rack" on a breakfast table: to store envelopes, or franked mail that the servant will take after the master's departure to entrust to the Post Office. Charles X period, early 19th century circa 1820. Rare collector's item, ideal to complete an early 19th century office decor, one of those small details that make an authentic decoration.
