"Large Blue Ribbed Murano Glass Vase Signed "murano Tozo" 1930s"
FRATELLI TOSO LARGE VASE IN BLUE RIBBED BUBBLE GLASS WITH GOLD SEQUINS FROM MURANO SIGNED "MURANO TOZO" FROM THE 1930s dim: 38 cm high x 34 cm wide x 28 cm deep WEIGHT 9 KG FRATELLI TOSO One of the oldest glassworks on the island, opened already in 1854, the company was especially typical at the beginning for its production of classic blown glass and, at the beginning of the 20th century, for its vases executed using the murrine technique. Between 1910 and In 1914, an important event was the cooperation with the Norwegian artist Hans Stoltenberg Lerche, who had a long series of objects inspired by the marine world produced; that the objects exhibited at the Venice Biennales of 1912 and 1914 represented a truly unique experience in the world of Murano. Critics made a great deal of these pieces, in view of this extraordinary personality, after his death in Rome in 1920. A major retrospective exhibition was dedicated to him in the Norwegian room of the First International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Monza (Milan, Italy) in 1923. While continuing to cooperate with artists, the company executed numerous glass objects for Umberto Bellotto, including those exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1914 during the latter's solo exhibition. In 1923, still in Monza, alongside a series of fairly traditional blown objects, not without audacity of execution, appeared a series of large vases and bowls, designed by the painter Guido Cadorin, vaguely reminiscent of oriental motifs, used by the artist in the execution of some lacquered furniture. Production gradually modernized, as evidenced by the vases with silver bands exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1934 or the large zanfirico and reticello vases exhibited the previous year at the MilanTrennale (Italy). After the Second World War, the furnace participated in all the most important exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Alongside the return to the use of murrine - once one of the house's specialties - other products appeared in transparent glass, with very faint or completely colorless colorings on the designs of Giusto and Renato Toso, executed mostly by the maestros Alberto Moretti, Licio Zuffi and Vittorio Ferro. Among the latest works, it is worth noting the large "Gala" fountain, designed by Amerigo Marchesin and Giusto Toso, presented at the Venice Biennale in 1968: it became a design classic in the late 60s and early 70s. The company ceased its production activities in 1982. DELIVERY ONLY PARIS ILE DE FRANCE FOR 45.00 EUROS For other transport give me your postal code and city to make a request to the carriers
