Gruppo d'arte Decalage was an artistic collective formed by three Italian painters who worked together for over thirty years, starting in the mid-20th century. The name "Décalage" derives from the first syllables of the surnames of two of its members, Felix de' Cavero and Attilio Aloisi, to which the name "age" was added to emphasize the analogy with collage. Nardo Girardi later joined the group, thus completing the trio. These artists were known for their unique collaboration, creating works with six hands, where each brought their own influences and sensibilities to the painting. They also innovated a particular technique of panel painting, which involved impregnating the wood. The work of the Gruppo Décalage is characterized by three intersecting periods: a first figurative period (1953-1969/1970), a second romantic figurative period (1966-1987) and a third surrealist period (1961-1979). Their art played an important role in the Piedmontese artistic panorama of the second half of the 20th century.
