Ottoman Empire from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 19th century.
A large star of Medes in the center, with a blue and ivory background sown with a floral decoration.
Placed in a circle almost coral and also flowery.
A large frieze of rondos decorated with flowery niches, points inside the circle, and also separated by alternating niches whose point pricks the outside.
The carnation is the favorite flower of this rare Turkish delight tray.
Blue, coral, green, brown and gold adorn this piece enameled with a brush and of course painted by hand.
A frieze of botehs runs along the edge from right to left.
Quality and very rare piece, a fastener is welded to the back of the tray for hanging, traces of normal wear.
## Turkish delight, or rahat Turkish delight, is a word from the Turkish lokum, itself derived from Arabic meaning “rest of the throat”.
This “tranquility of the throat” is not surprising since it was originally a honey or sugar medicine in the shape of a berlingot whose origins go back to the Babylonians.
