Japanese erotic thaumatrope shakudo pendant with monkey decoration. Rotating erotic pendant composed of a black metal shakudo disc, using the principle of retinal persistence: when it is rotated quickly, the two images on the faces overlap. The disc features a gold leaf damascene decoration: on one side a standing monkey, on the other a monkey leaning forward, creating the illusion of an animated erotic scene. Shakudo is a Japanese alloy of red copper and gold. The bail is made of 18 karat gold. Antique pendant, circa 1900. 18 karat gold bail.
