"Paul-françois Jean: Pair Of Louis XVI Period Cabriolet Armchairs Stamped"
Beautiful pair of cabriolet armchairs in finely molded and carved wood, gendarme hat back, fluted rudenté legs. Superb Louis XVI style silk lampas cover with fine floral decoration on a sky blue background (Marie Antoinette silk by Tassinari and Chatel). Stamp of Paul-François Jean, Louis XVI period circa 1784-1789. Paul-François Jean - seat carpenter. Received master on October 5, 1784 and active until 1789. He practiced on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine under the name of "Saint-Esprit". He made luxury seats, with the assistance of the sculptors Joigny, Cresson, Duclos and Mancien. We recognize the characteristics of a great master carpenter in seats: perfect proportions, flawless execution with very careful details: rosettes of the connecting dice in relief, very fine sculpture in water leaf and row of pearls on all the uprights. Our seats are covered with an exceptional silk lampas (Tassinari and Chatel). Our upholsterer has achieved museum quality finishes with coordinated cords and braids. Very beautiful pair of collector's chairs. Excellent condition, fully restored. Sound carpentry in very good condition with small restorations of use, upholstery redone in horsehair on straps with a backrest in tableau.
