"Nikolai Michoutouchkine, Portrait Of A Boy"
Oil on hardboard dated 63, representing the portrait of a young boy. Painting treated with a lot of material and signed Michoutouchkine. Born in 1929 in Belfort in a Russian émigré family, Nicolai Michoutouchkine trained in painting at a very young age, then continued his artistic studies in Paris. A great traveler, he traveled through Europe, Asia and the Middle East before settling in New Caledonia in 1957, then in Vanuatu. With his friend and companion Aloï Pilioko, he founded the Michoutouchkine-Pilioko Foundation, intended to preserve and promote Oceanic art. A prolific painter, he was inspired by Oceanic rites and landscapes, mixing bright colors and symbols. In 1975, he was made a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters for his cultural work. He died in Noumea in 2010, leaving a major artistic and heritage legacy. Good general condition, some wear to report. Dimensions: 54 / 37.5 cm
