Romanticism
Very beautiful genre scene, representing a couple in a bucolic landscape, in front of a ruin, the young woman wears a day dress, white linen with leg-of-mutton sleeves, trimmed with goose feathers for volume, flowers in her hair so as not to forget that youth eventually passes.....On the other hand, the young man wears an imaginary outfit, a plumed hat, a troubadour-style cape. Our painting was executed during the second part of Romanticism 1822-1843, the height of this movement. Note on the right hand of the painting, a pigeon pierced by an arrow, probably a love vanquished by Cupid's arrow.
