Large Gilt-Bronze and Velvet Photograph Frame – Napoleon III Period, Late 19th Century

An elegant large-format photograph frame crafted from finely chased and gilt bronze, displaying a rich decorative composition in the Louis XVI style.

Of rectangular form, the frame is surrounded by a broad gilt-bronze border decorated with finely chased foliate friezes and geometric motifs. The deep burgundy velvet ground provides a particularly refined contrast with the warm brilliance of the gilding.

The crest is surmounted by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon and framed by gracefully intertwined bows. A gilt-bronze floral composition is positioned above the central photograph opening.

The velvet ground is further embellished with applied gilt-bronze motifs, including two classically draped female figures depicted dancing and playing music. Delicate foliate ornaments arranged at the corners complete the decoration.

The central photograph opening is outlined by a finely beaded gilt-bronze border.
