"In The Style Of The Dutch Golden Age: Young Soldier Smoking His Pipe "
The taste for Dutch painting of the Golden Age was so strong that copies were legion, made with varying degrees of success. This small panel that we are offering is probably inspired by a work by Peter de Hooch, representing a young soldier smoking his pipe a little apart from his companions who remained near the fire in the ruins. The painter took particular care with his character, as well as the different backgrounds. The atmosphere is particularly successful, faithful to the original, paying tribute with sensitivity to the masters of the past. If the panel were not so modern, one could be mistaken for it. For the moment without a frame, the painting is in beautiful original condition.
