Cavalry Clashes The Frame measures 117 CM x 90 CM The Canvas measures 99 CM x 73 CM Pandolfo RESCHI was born in DANZIG, currently GDANSK, in 1643 and died in FLORENCE in 1699. He went to Rome when he was young, where he became one of the most skilled students of Giacomo Borgognone. He painted battles and imitated the landscapes of Salvator Rosa. He also excelled in perspective and architectural views. Arriving in Florence in the mid-1660s, he continued his figure studies with Livio Mehus, Antonio Giusti, and Pier Dandinil. In 1670, he was hired by the Medici court and became a protégé of Cardinal Francesco Maria de' Medici, with whom he lived from 1680 until the end of his days. His paintings were highly regarded by the great Tuscan noble families, particularly the Corsini. He worked for the Uffizi Gallery under the direction of the Florentine scholar and architect Giacinto Marmi.
