The richly colored decoration features a bird perched among flowering branches and peonies, painted with vivid cobalt blue, iron red and green enamels. The neck is decorated with a traditional geometric frieze on a deep blue background, characteristic of Japanese art of the late 19th century. The vase is mounted on a chased and gilt bronze base, worked in a refined style, typical of decorative montages made in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.
