SCHOOL RIFLE, TYPE GRAS, for target shooting, civilian manufacture.
France, 19th century

Total length: 115cm Barrel: 71cm Caliber: 11.1mm

Flared barrel, then round, rifled bore, marked B50 and inspection stamps.
Gras-type breech and breech block. Hallmarked. Handle hallmarked C and P and two crowned hallmarks.
All iron fittings, yellowed and hallmarked. Trigger guard; cap with hammer and muzzle cap; grenadier.
Walnut mount with butt plate; inspector's mark on one side and number 1478 on the other.
Iron ramrod, numbered 1845 and stamped.
