"Charles Corbineau "the Rough Peasants' Home""
Charles Corbineau. Oil on canvas "the rude peasants' dwelling" signed lower right CH. CORBINEAU. French school. 55.5 X 46 cm. Charles Auguste Corbineau (1835-1901) was a pupil of Ernest Hébert (1817-1908) and appeared at the Salon from 1863. The painter born in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire) learned well the lessons of style and luminous contrasts received from Hébert; his portraits, his interiors, his genre scenes, which he regularly sent to the Salon, from 1863 until his death are now preserved in the museums of his hometown, those of Pontoise and Louviers (sources: Schur dictionary of the little Masters of painting). Gilded and patinated carton bouilli frame from the beginning of the 19th century. Good condition.
