"19th Century Scandinavian Box"
We never tire of admiring the ingenuity of these Scandinavian boxes. First, this slice of birch sewn or sometimes studded, then the ingenious system of closing the lid. It was used to store a treasure that could be an unfinished piece of lady's work, a stash of buttons or, in the kitchen, dry cakes, well protected from all predators. Ancestral know-how, which is still perpetuated. A date in pencil indicates 1883.
