"Set Of Four Armchairs Stamped Clmutel, Aubusson Tapestry, Louis XVI Period, 18th Century "
Beautiful set of four lacquered wooden armchairs with rich carved ribbon decoration around the edges, acanthus leaves, and rough dentures. They are still upholstered in their Aubusson tapestry with Lafontaine's fables, studded (original mercury gilt nails), the backs are upholstered in the checked canvas of the time. Suspension with bands, all in good condition, minor wear to the tapestry. Two of the four seats bear the stamp of Charles Louis MUTEL. Received as a master carpenter on December 30, 1756, he was established on rue Guéridon Boisseau in Paris until 1788. Charles Louis Mutel will be renowned for the richness and finesse of the sculptures adorning his seat joinery. Backrest height 87cm Seat height 43cm approx.
