19th Cent. Reliquary 1 St Class Relic St. James The Great + Wax Seal

This remarkable 19th-century reliquary holds a 1 st Class (From the body) Holy Relic of:Saint James the Great - Apostle and MartyrWas the second of the apostles to die after Judas Iscariot and the first to be martyred.[1] Saint James is the patron saint of Spain and, according to tradition, what are believed to be his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.He is also known as James, son of Zebedee, Saint James the Great, Saint James the Greater, St. James Son of Thunder, St. James the Major, Saint James the Elder, or Saint Jacob, James the Apostle or Santiago.
Reliquary descriptionThe relic is safely kept under a glass resting on a gold thread silk background.At the back of the reliquary, we find the Episcopal’ s wax seal of His Eminence Cardinal Engelbert Sterckx, Archbishop of Mechelen, Primate of Belgium. The threads and wax seal are in outstanding condition guaranteeing the authenticity of this holy relic.ConditionGreat condition. No damage or missing parts.
