"Pair Of Meissen Porcelain Figurines, "day And Night""
A pair of Meissen porcelain figurines, "Day and Night" (Der Tag und Die Nacht). Day is represented by a floating Cupid with a torch and roses, at his side, ears of corn and a sunflower, accompanied by a songbird. Sunbeams float in his hair. In good condition, with a restoration on the left arm (see photos). Night represents a Cupid wearing a star-spangled diadem, wrapped in a dark blue veil and holding poppies. Beside him, an owl rests on a tree trunk. In perfect condition. Marked with crossed blue swords and numbered L134 and L135. Model created by Heinrich Schwabe between 1877 and 1880.
