19th Century Softwood Fireplace Cantou.Pretty fireplace cantou forming a bench and chest in softwood, fir dating from the 19th century.The seat crosspieces are original but were converted into a chest using hinges in the 19th century.
It has carved faces with geometric decoration which were painted with red and green pigments.
Nice work on the sides and traditional assembly reminiscent of mountain furniture (Queyras).
good general condition, ideal to place near or in your fireplace.
A pretty regional piece of furniture, very friendly and unusual.
