Tripartite Numismatic Case in Solid Silver – Fritz Huguenin, Switzerland, Late 19th Century
Elegant numismatic case in solid 800 silver, crafted by Swiss silversmith Fritz Huguenin (1847–1917). Designed to hold one Napoléon and two demi-Napoléons, the circular case features three distinct compartments. Each component bears the French boar’s head hallmark, certifying the silver’s purity.
The obverse depicts a finely engraved hunting scene: a marksman with his rifle, accompanied by three hounds in pursuit. The reverse presents a dramatic encounter between a stag and three hunting dogs, rendered with dynamic precision and naturalistic detail.
A refined example of late 19th-century Swiss craftsmanship, this case marries numismatic function with narrative artistry.
