"Charming Paris Porcelain Pitcher Of Children Dressed As "napoleon And Drummer Of The Navy""
A delightful white Paris porcelain table pitcher with painted decoration of children in the countryside playing disguised as Napoleon I and a Navy drummer. This amusing scene is a curiosity of the period around 1810; and is a comical curiosity of children playing with determination at warriors, one of whom is Imperial. Elegantly shaped as a jug with a generous pourer with its handle at the head and swan neck, resting on a foot circled with gilded threads, motifs on the front in gilded flower and foliage patterns, neck and handle with gilded rim. This beautiful piece from the First Empire is an example of the fascination for the Emperor and his conquests which made France dream and therefore Europe and the whole world.... A charming showcase object full of poetry in perfect condition... Notice to Amateurs!...
