"Large Armchair With Footrest – Painted Wood, Late 18th Century Turning"
Important armchair in painted wood, accompanied by its straw footrest, dating from the end of the 18th century. The whole rests on an elegant turned and carved base, testifying to refined carpentry work. The straw seats, remade, retain all the authenticity of the traditional technique. The cushions are made in a quilted canvas from the beginning of the 19th century, while the bolster and the backrest are covered in an antique checked fabric from Beautiran. Dimensions: Armchair: width at the armrests 84 cm – seat depth 87 cm – backrest height 92 cm – seat height 50 cm. Footrest: width 82 cm – length 111 cm – seat height 50 cm. Remarkable detail: the straw cover is carved in the same pattern as the back of the stool, but treated in a concave shape - a very rare singularity, unprecedented in our experience as antique dealers.
