"Important Oak Bookcase (2/2), Louis XV, Reused From The 18th Century "
- This bookcase is distinguished by its shape, its large dimensions (213 x 207 x 63 cm) as well as by its rich sculpted decoration characteristic of the 18th century and the Louis XV style. - Flat at the back, this bookcase deploys a curved facade, a curve which sets the tone for the rocaille forms of the sculpted decoration. Its decoration in fact deploys numerous ornaments borrowed from the ornamental vocabulary of the rocaille style with sculptures of volutes, foliage, shells. These are used as pendants (at the base of the rounded shapes of the lower part), follow the curved lines of the uprights, or are associated with cabochons and a putto face.
- This piece of furniture is composed of 18th century elements (lower and upper part) and later elements (uprights, interior shelves).
