Large Quimper Earthenware Dish - 18th Century
Artist: Pierre-clément Caussy
Octagonal dish in Quimper earthenware by Pierre-Clément Caussy (1749-1760). "During the 18th century, the earthenware factory continued to grow with its successive directors, first Pierre Bellevaux, son-in-law of Pierre Bousquet, who brought the techniques of Nevers earthenware where he was from. Then Pierre-Clément Caussy, son of a Rouen earthenware maker, who married the daughter of the new owner. "His contribution to the Quimper building was most important. He would influence production until the end of the 19th century thanks to the many clichés that he had taken care to bring along..." The Rouen influence gradually transformed Quimper earthenware into a more artistic production." Good general condition, note a small crack visible in the photos.
