Art Nouveau Silver Plique a Jour enamel & pearl Pendant Brooch  Heinrich Levinger Ca 1900

This exquisite pendant brooch is a stunning example of Art Nouveau jewellery. Crafted by Heinrich Levinger, it features a plique a jour enamel and pearl detailing on a silver. The intricate details of this brooch make it a unique addition to any jewellery collection,The brooch is ideal for those who appreciate the beauty of antique Art Nouveau jewellery. Hallmark 900 and makers mark on the reverse. Dimensions: drop 1.5 inches (4.1 cm) Width 1.4 inches (3.8 cm)
This is good example of an Art Nouveau Piece which has been enamelled in the plique-à-jour method. Plique-à-jour (French for “letting in daylight”) is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. It is in effect a miniature version of stained-glass and is considered very challenging technically. The firm of Levinger was based in Phortzeim, Germany.
