G. Scott – Original drawing from the 1950s / Graphic icon of male sensuality Original drawing by G. Scott, an iconic artist of the 1950s, renowned for his illustrations published in the Swiss magazine Der Kreis, a major reference in post-war European homosexual culture. This work in graphite enhanced with wash depicts a squatting naked young man. The model, athletic and charming, embodies the typical masculine ideal of the time: a muscular body, a quiet confidence, an amused look. We find here all the stylized and coded homoerotic aesthetic that Scott skillfully developed in his compositions. The quality of the line, the rendering of the volumes, as well as the slightly ironic expression of the face, testify to the graphic mastery of the artist.
