Rare Chest with Domed Top Oak wood France - End of the 15th century it has a solid frame of uprights and crosspieces assembled with tenons and mortises, in which are dimpled high panels Its domed lid results from the addition of several boards of equal width nailed at the ends The flat blades of the hinges are articulated at mid-height on hinges which allow the opening of the flap, giving access to the contents of the furniture The central hinge ends with a hasp which is fixed in the palastra The elegance of the dome corresponds to that of the decoration of the walls decorated with muzzles of lions and caryatids in pilasters the decoration is recessed in the mass This chest is incontestably contemporary with the reign of Charles VIII, but it cannot be attributed with certainty to the royal furniture.
