Object description :

"Robert Detheux - 1957 - Surrealist Watercolor - Framed "
Robert Detheux (1932-2010) 52cm x 42cm "Silent Reflection" is a captivating work created by Robert Detheux in 1957, on cardboard and carefully framed. This piece, both mysterious and introspective, is part of the tradition of Belgian surrealism, while affirming the artist's singularity. Detheux's style is distinguished by a remarkable graphic subtlety: abstract forms emerge from a textured background, crossed by delicate lines and earthy nuances. This composition invites the viewer to contemplation and introspection, as if each sketched line opened a door to the unconscious. In "Silent Reflection", we find a kinship with the work of René Magritte, another great name of Belgian surrealism. Like Magritte, Detheux plays on the ambiguity of forms and the border between the real and the imaginary. Where Magritte questions the representation of the world through paradoxical images, Detheux explores abstraction and poetic suggestion, leaving room for the viewer's personal interpretation. Both artists share a taste for mystery and visual poetry, but Detheux distinguishes himself with a more refined and intimate approach. Through this work, Detheux invites us to dive into the inner world, where every detail seems laden with hidden meaning. "Silent Reflection" is thus a true invitation to reverie, faithful to the spirit of surrealism. **Provenance** Collection of the artist's family. **Biography** Robert Detheux, born in Brussels in 1932, established himself in the 1950s as a singular figure on the Belgian art scene, notably through his involvement in the surrealist and Dadaist movements. His works demonstrate his ability to blend poetry, subversion, and plastic invention. From the 1970s onwards, he moved towards a lyrical abstraction, whilst retaining the influence of surrealism and Dadaism. **Shipping** The work will be sent flat, very well protected.
