"Large Antique Gilded Wood Mirror - 19th Century"
Important mirror from a castle in Brittany (France) in carved and gilded wood, preserved in its beautiful original patina. The frame is decorated with an elegant pearl surround, deep grooves punctuated by crisscrossing ribbons. It is topped with an exceptional shell, framed by large foliage scrolls and delicate garlands of flowers. This mirror retains its original floor as well as a thick glittery mercury mirror, precious witnesses to its authenticity. A very decorative piece, it can be presented full-length in an entrance hall, placed on the floor, hung as an ornamental mirror or used as a trumeau above a fireplace. The marks of time on the tin and the gilding give it a unique charm, reinforcing its character and presence.
