Provençal console Avignon or Comtat Venaissin early 18th century this model has two curved and counter-curved legs finished with two shell-shaped legs is made of wrought iron (beaten) and embossed sheet metal fleurons acanthus leaves, daisies in iron arabesques marble molded on the ground to hold the legs and top also in red marble from Flanders Wrought iron is present throughout Provence in the 17th and 18th centuries in the provinces executed by master ironworkers like Alexis Benoit whose Calvet museum preserves a fine example of his art
