Louis XVI Period Mercury-gilt Bronze Cartel
Beautiful finely chiseled bronze cartel clock which has retained its mercury gilding, signed CARON in Paris, striking the hours and half hours. The movement is from the Louis XVI period but the silk thread has been replaced by a brocade decoration of rams' heads, pine cones, laurel garlands, fluting, small fire pots, etc.
