Object description :

"Large Renaissance-style Bronze Dish With Heraldic And Allegorical Decoration – C17th Or C18th"
A striking and richly decorated oval bronze dish, finely cast with intricate relief work, likely dating from the 17th or 18th century in the Renaissance Revival style. Measuring approximately 34.8 cm x 25.98 cm and weighing 1.6 kg, this substantial piece is both decorative and historically evocative. The front is adorned with finely detailed scenes in high relief, including allegorical figures in medallions, elaborate foliate scrolls, and a central heraldic coat of arms topped with a coronet, possibly indicating noble or civic affiliation. Surrounding figures suggest mythological or classical themes, reminiscent of 16th–17th century Northern European ornamental metalwork. The back is smooth and undecorated, with signs of age and patination consistent with early casting techniques. This dish was likely intended as a display piece, either for a collector’s cabinet or as a ceremonial object, and would make a fine addition to any collection of Renaissance art, bronze ware, or heraldic artifacts.Condition: Good antique condition with rich patina. Minor surface wear and oxidation consistent with age. No visible repairs or restorations.Provenance: Private collection.
