"Louis XVI Style Bed Canopy In Gilded Bronze And Embroidered Silk"
Louis XVI style bed canopy in gilt bronze and embroidered silk France, late 19th - early 20th century Semi-circular bed canopy element, composed of a gilt bronze frame finely molded with scrolls and oves, supporting a textile covering in beige silk embroidered with floral and leafy motifs. The lower border is highlighted with a fringed braid. The central dome in rigid fabric, stretched over a frame, completes the ensemble. Side slits suggest an opening mechanism, probably designed to accommodate a device of curtains or nets descending on either side of the bed. Decorative object of beautiful craftsmanship, in need of restoration, which could be used in a historical reconstruction project or classically inspired interior decoration.
